Psychological and emotional difficulties are something most of us experience at some point in our lives. Common triggers for this can be difficult life events such as bereavement, relationship difficulties, health problems, work stress and/or any other life events that involve loss, change or uncertainty. At these times you may feel unable to understand or cope with these difficulties and may require psychological help.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is the predominant approach offered to treat common psychological problems and has a significant evidence base as to its effectiveness. The CBT approach is primarily a way of breaking down and understanding psychological and emotional problems in terms of unhelpful thinking and behaviour patterns. With this understanding, individuals are often better able to cope with challenges in their lives by utilizing more helpful ways of thinking about and responding to them.
