My experience and training:
I am an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist offering confidential, private treatment for wide a range of difficulties experienced by adults 18 years and above. My main areas of expertise are around the treatment of depression, self-esteem issues and the whole spectrum of anxiety disorders. In addition, I also have experience in working with a broad range of other difficulties. Please see below for the full list.
Subsequent to graduating from a degree in Applied Psychology in 2004 I have worked in the field of mental health in the NHS for over 10 years. Initially I qualified as a Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner in 2005. I then went on to train in CBT in 2007 and qualified as a CBT therapist in 2009. I currently work in the NHS as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist providing psychological therapy to clients both in one-to-one and groups settings. I am member of British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and am working towards achieving accreditation with this body.
Having previously followed a different career path in IT, I came to the world of psychological therapy to do something more rewarding and meaningful with my working life. Helping people understand themselves and cope better with the challenges that life throws at them is what inspires me. I endeavour to provide an environment where people feel safe enough to explore personal issues, whilst at the same time providing a framework for understanding themselves and how they can makes positives changes in their life.
